Специальный показатель в рамках концепции поведенческих финансов, который отражает настроения участников на финансовых рынках. Индекс рассчитывается на основе методики Службы изучения инвесторов США(Investors’ Intelligence Service). Статистика для индекса имеется в наличии с 1969 г., где информационные письма делятся на «бычьи» (совет «покупать» в ожидании роста цены) и «медвежьи» (совет «продавать» в ожидании снижения цены). Индекс составляется еженедельно и представляет собой отношение«бычьих» (или «медвежьих») писем к их общему количеству.
